NIGERIA @ 57: Let's Focus More On What Unites Us"......OGBORU

With the nation celebrating its 57th Independence Anniversary, a prominent chieftain of the All Proressives Congress, APC, in Delta state, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has congratulated the country's leadership for its commendable efforts in keeping the country united.

Chief Ogboru in his Independence speech which was signed by Micheal Emumena Paul, Secretary of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Light of APC, Delta state, appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of Chief Kokori as Chairman, NSITF.

As Nigeria marks her 57th year of Independence from colonial rule, Chief Great Ogboru, a governorship hopeful of the APC in Delta State, charged Nigerians across the Country to devote their energies toward the building of unity and peace, saying that "meaningful development and progress cannot be achieved under an atmosphere of conflict and division".

The foremost opposition leader in Delta State, stated that; "every Nigerian has a role to play to encourage peaceful coexistence and sustainable development".

"I congratulate and rejoice with all Nigerians across the nation and in diaspora as we mark our 57th year of Independence. It is true that we are not where we ought to have been at 57,  especially when we consider the prospects and opportunities that were before us at Independence. However, we cannot attain such height if we continue dividing the nation along ethnic and religious line.

"As Nigerians, we all need to dissipate our energies and focus our attention on those things that unite us and give nationhood and national integration a chance. If we can function as one people, there is no limit to the height we can reach."

Chief Ogboru, called on all secession advocates to sheath their swords and have faith in the purposeful leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that it take great commitment and diligence to reposition the Country for greatness, having been unjustly robbed of its resources by highly greedy political gladiators. This, he said the current administration is doing relentlessly and affirms that there are already obvious evidence of such great tomorrow.

"If we take a ride on memory lane, we will discover that majority of our leaders have hidden under ethno-religious bigotry to siphon our commonwealth and divert public funds into private pockets. What ordinarily would have been used to build infrastructures and attract development to our Country were stolen.

"Today, we can see the efforts of this current administration to tackle such corrupt cases as well as to invest massively on infrastructure and grow the economy. I can assure you that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration means well for all Nigerians, so we need to shun tribalism and secession agenda to support him."

Chief Ogboru, who is fondly addressed as "the people's general", also used the opportunity to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of Chief Frank Ovie Kokori as the Chairman of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). Describing the appointment as a square peg in a square hole, Chief Ogboru stated that Chief Kokori is a man with "unblemished records and proven integrity", adding that his choice as the Chairman of NSITF indicates that President Buhari values integrity and truly working for a better Nigeria.

The People's General congratulates Chief Kokori and encourage him to ensure his integrity is ones again proven in his new office by adding colours to the Buhari government and bringing joy to all Nigerians.
