KADUNA CENTENARY CELEBRATION: NSCDC TASKS RESIDENTS, OTHERS ON SECURITY

Kaduna state; political capital of the North-west region of Nigeria is about celebrating its 100 years in existence following the movement of the Northern Regional capital from Zungeru in 1917.

To this end, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDCis calling on residents of the capital and state in general to place high value on security of lives and property by reporting all threats, promptly.



The State Commandant of the corps, Alhaji Modu Bunu made this call in a statement issued by the State PRO of the Command in Kaduna on Friday, explained that the action has become necessary to ensure a smooth celebration.

According to the release which was signed by ASC Orndiir Terzungwe, PRO; it said; 

"In order to ensure hitch-free celebration before, during and after the event, Bunu has charged all and sundry to be at alert and report any suspected acts or persons to security agencies".

"The corps in synergy with other agencies, is still doing the best we can to address security threats arising from kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery and hoodlums popularly known in the local parlance as Sara-suka", Bunu said.

"It is therefore, important for the peace loving people of the state and the public to collaborate with us by giving us useful and timely information to nib crimes in the bud".

"We have concluded arrangements to ensure mass deployment of personnel to all the vulnerable and flash points".

"On behalf of all officers and personnel of the command, I felicitate with Kaduna State government for organizing the event in collaboration with the 18 Northern State governments. We must remember that it is only when there is security that development can thrive".

"On the contrary, lack of security results in retardation, thereby giving rise to low standard of living", the statement read.
