NITDA RECORDING SUCCESS AS MDA'S SUBMIT REQUEST FOR 2018 IT RELATED PROJECTS
In keeping to its mandate of ensuring the strict monitoring of the nation's Information Technology sector and compliance by operators, the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA is daily recording huge successes.
These successes have been gained especially within government with no less than 20 Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) submitting their various requests to NITDA this year, for clearance of their IT related projects.
Making this known on Wednesday was the Agency's Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations, Hadiza Umar.
According to Mrs. Umar, "some of the MDA's have been fully cleared, some others had provisional clearance while the rest are at various stages of the clearance process".
"The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently had its Information Communication Technology (ICT) security and system infrastructure upgrade projects, cleared by NITDA", she stated.
"The cleared projects include Enterprise Network Security; Gateway Security project, aimed at upgrading the bank’s network appliances and ensuring that network appliances are highly available and provides comprehensive real real-time protection against advance threat", she said.
According to Hadiza Umar, "clearing of the projects would enhance ICT performance and protect the country’s cyberspace against threats".
"Potential targets of cyber-attacks were banks, health, power and transportation systems, as well as other critical national infrastructure", she said.
She disclosed that; “the CBN, in its efforts toward mitigating these threats, especially in the country’s financial institutions, initiated the implementation of the projects".
