CROSS RIVER: Ayade Orders Commencement Of Waste Management and Evacuation Exercises in Four Urban Towns
As part of efforts to ensure proper waste management and its evacuation not only in Calabar the state capital, the Cross River state governor has directed that the exercise be extended to the other four major urban towns in the state.
Making this known to newsmen recently, the General Manager of the Waste management Agency, Mr. Sunday Oko named the urban towns to include Ogoja, Obudu, Ikom and Ugep.
Oko explained that waste management and evacuation work has already commence in earnest in the said urban areas to ensure safety of the residents of these towns.
"The idea is to provide a proactive mechanism that will guarantee healthy and clean environment throughout the state urban centres".
The GM also disclosed that the measure became imperative because, since the end of the last administration, waste management and evacuation was abandoned due to the absence of an Executive Secretary for the agency.
"Governor Ayade is committed to proper waste management and evacuation which will be driven by waste management Agency", he stated.
