Amotekun is the security outfit that has the collaboration of the  six states that makes up the South-West region in the Nigerian federation and this is a welcome development.

This was the assertion of Otunba Tokunbo, a concerned stakeholder in the Nigerian ptoject, albeit the Southwest.

According to Otunba Tokunbo who is based in the United Kingdom while speaking with newsmen, disclosed that it is not yet Uhuru as it relates to the setting up AMOTEKUN, the joint security apparatus of the six Southwest states of Nigeria.

"For our AMOTEKUN to make any meaningful impact and achieve its desired end, we must take the bull by the horn and include commerce and economy in its formulation, planning and implementation", he stated.

"It is not a hidden fact that Security, Commerce and development are all interwoven. Security, Commerce, Economic, Physical and Fiscal development, go hand in hand".

Tasked on the level of security and how it can be attained efdectively, he restated the need for the development commerce and the optimum engagement of the teeming population.

"For us to attain a minimum level of security in our region, there is the need for us to develop our commerce, engage our teeming population in purpositive economic activity, provide quality and affordable education and health services for our teeming population".

"We must, as a matter of priority, upgrade our infrastructures and facilities to attain minimum standards. That is when our SECURITY OUTFIT, AMOTEKUN can make any meaningful impact", he said.

"And, for us to truly actualize this, genuine economic collaboration among the six states in the southwest is a requirement to make AMOTEKUN a success", he stressed.

Speaking further, he said; "all the six states should in the spirit of Amotekun, using the same template in setting it up, should expectedly, come up with an economic arrangement that would facilitate economic, financial and fiscal relationship for the benefit of the people of the southwest region".

"If we put this in perspective, the economic agenda will hastily transform our region and in no time, other regions, even the opaque federal government will emulate this grand design and with this in no short time, the Nigerian nation will rightfully retake its position in the comity of civilised and economically advanced nations", he stated.
