Following the conclusion of the re-run elections in some states across the federation into the various State Houses of Assembly on Saturday, 25th January 2020, the the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna state chapter has raised an alarm over perceived plans by the All Progressive Congress to alter the already announced results.
The PDP in Kaduna is alleging that, following the re-run election that the APC is planning to scuttle and tamper with the already announced results of the Sanga House of Assembly rerun election.
A statement issued on Sunday, 26th January, 2020 and signed by Albera Kato, its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Albera Kato on behalf of its Chairman, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyet, disclosed that the APC was making concerted efforts to tamper with the results.
According to the PDP in its statement, “Information reaching us from the APC camp reveals that the APC top notchers are having a clandestine meeting to scuttle and tamper with the already announced results of Sanga rerun elections held yesterday that was won by the PDP and her candidate, Hon. Comfort Amwe, as announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the statement, the PDP called on all security agencies and Civil Rights Organisations (CSOs) and the general public to take note of this desperation of the APC/Government House and enemies of democracy.
The PDP stressed that, "if unchecked, can lead to break down of law and order and cause havoc to our fragile democracy and cause dissatisfaction to the public, should the APC go ahead with their planned shortchanging of the already announced results of Sanga State Constituency rerun elections, held yesterday, 25th January,2020, by the INEC".
“We are keenly watching as events unfold and shall defend our mandate with all that we have got, within the ambits of the law".
"Our Party, the PDP, will not fold its arms and watch the people’s mandate shortchanged", the party vowed", the statement concluded.
