COURT SENTENCES FAYEMI TO 4 YEARS IMPRISONMENT..... No Option Of Fine.

This Will Serve As Deterrent... Says Magistrate

A Magistrate Court in Nigeria has convicted Fayemi, following his plea of guilt to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing as well as the facts of the case, without an option of fine.

According to a report from the News agency of Nigeria, NAN, the Magistrate, Mr Matthew Akinyemim, said the sentencing will serve as a deterrent to other criminals.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on Dec. 31, 2019, at Goro Garage, Ijoko, Ota.

The Magistrate Court in Ota, Ogun on Tuesday sentenced Femi Fayemi, aged 26 (m) to four years’ imprisonment for stealing a Bajaj Motorcycle valued at N195,000.

Mustapha said that the accused and his accomplices conspired to steal the Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AGL 438 QH, belonging to the complainant, Mr Ismail Ibrahim.

“The defendant was caught in the act by a vigilance group in the area which handed him over to the police", he said.

The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
