PASTOR FAKES OWN KIDNAP.... Demands #5m From Family

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State chapter has debunked claims that one of its members, a "pastor" faked his own kidnap.

CAN, Kaduna state chapter, in a statement issued on Thursday by it chairman, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, disclosed that the suspect who faked his kidnap at the Trikaniya and the Kudandan areas in Chikun Local Government Area of the State, is not a 'pastor' as claimed but a fake.

It would be recalled that the Kaduna State Police Command, had on Wednesday announced the arrest of a ‘Pastor’ and his accomplice for faking his kidnap in the state.

The Kaduna Police Command headquarters, had, in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo on Wednesday, given the names of the suspects to include, Pastor James Clement and George Otokpa, wherein, it disclosed that the "fake" kidnapper had demanded the sum of N5m from the family of Clement.

The PPRO, in his press statement, disclosed that the said incident took place in January, on Monday, the 27th, 2020.

Reacting to the disclosure by the State Command of the Nigeria Police, the Kaduna CAN chairman said on hearing of the kidnap story, the association officials immediately swung into action and discovered to their chagrin that Clement was not a pastor after all.

Hayab said the association would never harbour or spare any of its Pastor that commits a crime in the state.

"CAN is ever ready to support the police to carry out their statutory responsibilities", Hayab stated.

In a statement he issued and signed, Hayab commended the efforts of the Police Command in fishing out fake pastors such as Clement and therefore, urged the police to dig further with the view of apprehending and exposing others in the habit of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

"Any pastor or christian who fake his kidnap or confirmed to have any dirty business to do with kidnappers should be arrested and prosecuted", he stated.

"Any pastor or Christian who fakes his kidnap or is confirmed to have any dirty business to do with kidnappers, should be arrested and prosecuted".

"Kidnappers have caused us pains and sorrow and, our faith and Association will not support or defend evil", he said.

"I have checked and come to know that this man that was arrested for faking his kidnap and some of his collaborators, do not pastor any church".

"We salute our security agents for arresting him and exposing people like him. We hope and pray they will go after more bad eggs in our community and arrest them".

"This will help to sanitise the community and separate good from Evil. We are appealing to our members and the general public to help in exposing people with dubious attitudes around them", he concluded.
