BANDITS ATTACK KADUNA COMMUNITIES... 30 Reportedly Killed

No fewer than thirty (30) persons have been reportedly killed with several others injured when suspected bandits attacked some villages in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State.

Available reports gave the names of the affected villages as; Gidan Musa Saidu, Hashimawa, Kerawa, Marina Rago, Unguwar Barau and Zariyawa.

Speaking with the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna state Command, ASP Muhammad Jalige via phone on Monday, he confirmed the report, revealing that the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai alongside some top government functionaries including the  Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri are headed for the affected areas.

According to ASP Jalige, the authorities received the reports of the attack but
promised to revert back as soon as he returns with more information.

Meanwhile, an indigene of Giwa local government disclosed that combined troops from the Nigerian Army and Air Force have since launched an offensive against the bandits, killing many of them in the process.

According to sources, the attack by the bandits is like a revenge attack on the villagers who they accused of allegedly providing information to security agencies which culminated in the killing of their members.

As at the time of filing this report, further information reveals that a combined military offensive on camps occupied by the bandits inside the thick forests within Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Igabi local government areas, is ongoing.
