COVID-19: COMPLY WITH SAFETY AND HEALTH ADVISORY…… Hyat Advises Kaduna Residents.

With the ever increasing spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, also known as COVID-19, political leaders must continue to call upon their supporters to comply with the directives of government and the World Health Organization, WHO in order to urgently, address any further spread among the citizenry, especially in our rural communities.

Giving this advice on Tuesday in Kaduna is Honourable Hassan Felix Hyat, a prominent politician and former Minister of Aviation while reacting to the lockdown imposed by government in the state in its bid to checkmate the spread of the Corona virus pandemic that has so far, seen over three hundred persons testing positive to the disease.

Pitching his call with the slogan; #StayAlive, Hon. Hyat stressed that this is not the time for politicking but, a time for every leader in the state to preach the message of “Social Distancing, Healthy and Hygienic living” to his supporters, friends and family. This he says has become necessary as the novel Corona virus pandemic has resulted in the death of thousands of people in the UK, US and Europe with many still on critical condition in hospitals.

Speaking with Naij News Alert on phone, Hon. Hyat disclosed that it is expedient that people comply with safety measures put in place to contsin its further spread as the pandemic is no respecter of person irrespective of class or status.

Hon. Hassan Hyat, who is also the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kaduna, stressed that people should not see the fight against the spread as belonging to one political party or group but as a collective fight that requires the participation of all, if we must #SaveLives.

According to Chief Hyat, “Social Distancing and other advisory of the WHO” are essential to curbing the spread of COVID-19 especially now that the numbers of those that have tested positive to Corona Virus has continued to rise while the total figures in the country increases daily".

Tasked on the ‘Stay-at-home’ order of the state government, Hyat warned of the consequences of not adhering to the directive as it is capable of increasing the spread, exponentially of the numbers of people that will become infected by the COVID-19 but however, counseled that government must also seek out palliatives that will cushion the fallout of the ‘stay-at-home order’.

“There is hunger in the land and everybody is feeling the pinch and, asking people to ‘Stay-at-home’, there must be palliatives to meet the needs of the people. Many live on day-to-day income from petty trading and menial jobs in the state and, asking them to remain indoors without some form of assistance from the government, would spell another crisis”, he said.

He appealed to kindhearted individuals in the state to show love to the people around them by providing some essential food items to those in need and at the same time, sharing the message of “social distancing, self hygiene and healthy living”.

Chief Hyat commended his party chieftains and kindhearted individuals within the state that have so far, contributed food items and financial assistance for onward distribution to residents especially within their various constituencies.

He appealed to others with the capacity and wherewithal to provide for the people around them, noting that, if the people can get some of the basic needs that would enable them stay indoors, the spread of the corona virus will be addressed as; the man who is hungry cannot be kept indoors.
