OPINION: "A WITCH ALWAYS BEWITCH ITSELF; The Underdevelopment of Abraka ...... Plague of Runaway "People’s General"... By Akpovona O. Andrew.

"Our naive, gullible and ignorant people who said and keep saying that we removed or voted out Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie because he beat (bite) the fingers that fed him and or that he betrayed their "people’s general".

"Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie's legacies speaks for itself. The difference is clear to all now".

"Your “people’s general” is the actual serial betrayal of good friendship. He pays every good done to him back with evil.


In 2015, the people of Ethiope East elected Hon. Chief Evance Ochuko Ivwurie to represent them at the State Legislature. He took his oath of office and pledged to leave behind, an enduring legacy through passion and commitment to selfless roles in government.

He paid special obeisance to Chapter 2, Section 14 (2b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which emphasized that “the primary purpose of government is to provide security of lives and property, as well as improve the welfare of the Nigerian people”.

In carrying out this constitutional role, he risked his own life to protect the lives of all Ethiope East children from the marauding Fulani herdsmen, kidnappers and armed robbers. 

He did everything within his limited powers and authority to make sure that his people do not die from avoidable deaths, and the records are there; the differences he made, was and is still clear even for the blind to see.

He did not allow our magnanimous State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyichukwu Okowa to rest one full week without troubling him with the development challenges of Ethiope East, and to be fair to the Governor, he gave Hon. Ivwurie unrestricted access to his office and, despite the limited resources, he brought a lot of development programs and projects to Ethiope East. 

Under Hon. Evance Ivwurie leadership, Abraka as a University community was included in the State government and benefited like never before from school development, road construction, electricity development and expansion, empowerment programs et cetera, et cetera.

Please, let Mr. Abraham Avwara from Hon. Evance Ivwurie beloved Urhuovie - Abraka community know that the renovation of Urhuovie Primary School which is currently ongoing, is one of Hon. Ivwurie’s numerous legacy development works, programmes and constituency projects across Ethiope East, and that President Buhari and the APC Federal Government, has no limbs in these projects.

All gratitude, appreciation and commendation should go to the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyichukwu Okowa who had implicit confidence on Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie and approved these projects for him. 

Special thanks also goes to the good people of Ethiope East who thought it wise then to vote for growth and development and not laggard and underdevelopment, who voted for their excellent and best, and not mediocre and amateur and who vote for progress and headway and not regression and deterioration.

Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie's legacies speaks for itself. The difference is clear to all now, that during his time in office, our people were far better off socially, economically and politically and our constituency was respected and not neglected, but got fair share of infrastructure development and projects under his representation.

Here is my answer for you; you are guileless and foolish because it is Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie that resettled and fed your “people’s general” in Lagos for many years when he returned from exile and your “people’s general” is the actual serial betrayal of good friendship. He pays every good done to him back with evil.

Your “people’s general” knows that he is deceiving himself, his people, followers and community and he has heartlessly underdeveloped and destroyed Abraka. Your “people’s general” is not the typical quintessential political leaders like Tinubu, Saraki, Tukur, Ibori or Ekweremadu. Your “people’s general” is a snake- the snake never carries a child on its back; your “people’s general” unlike the aforementioned leaders above, never actually backs anyone without negative motives. He is overbearing, autocratic, bullying, dictatorial, bossy, empty, pompous, arrogant, overproud, fool of himself, selfish, wicked, overpriced, politically jaundiced; with bitterness, resentment, cynicism and cantankerous.

Here is my words for the naive, gullible and ignorant people, especially those from Abraka- you did not remove or voted out Hon. Chief Evance Ochuko Ivwurie who is comfortable in every sense of life. You voted out your future, you voted out your protection from Fulani herdsmen, kidnappers and armed robbers, you voted out development and progress from your community. The witch always bewitch itself.

You are guileless and foolish and you opened your eyes to vote for the man who didn't have the basic knowledge on governance, voiceless, underdevelopment, poverty, suffering, disgrace, humiliation, mediocre, amateur, regression and deterioration, because of your RUNAWAY “people’s general” who caresless about you and your community development and totally heartless about your personal and community security, protection, welfare and well being; you are plane stupid and you have to deal with it and get used to the consequences of your empty-headed, vacuous, moronic and idiotic actions and decisions for four straight years and for Abraka- since over 32 years and still counting.

Hon. Chief Evance Ochuko Ivwurie does not stay with you in your darkness and bad roads, he is comfortable in every sense of life, living and enjoying his humble life nationally and internationally, so deal with it yourself.

Finally, I must thank our effervescent Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie because of his heart of gold, continuous love for his people and community, fear and love of God and for coming to the rescue of his beloved Urhuovie-Abraka community where he has recommenced the renovation of Urhuovie Primary School project as part of his numerous legacy development works and projects.
