TWO SETS OF RULES....By Orosun!

For every game or competition, there is usually only one set of rules that every player and the Referees/Umpires must adhere to. 

This is the norm everywhere except in our dear country, Naija.

 

Here, the Rules change as the game goes on. Most times, the referees play alongside with the team they choose to play with. 

A referee could even shift or reposition the goalpost as he or she deems fit as long as it is shifted to his chosen side’s benefit. 

Our Country is the only nation where nothing is ever what it should or seems to be. Far from it always! 

You could even wake up one morning and be told that your “given” name is no longer yours. Any surprise that GPRS or Google map cannot work in this country? 

A place where there are no definite guidelines or rules? Anything goes as long as you “belong” per-time! You can get catapulted from penury to the Forbes Rich list just by “who you know” or where you come from. 

You do not need merit or much use of your Medilla Oblongata. Those requirements are mere waste of time in Naija. 

If you do not belong or do not come from the right area or region, have tonnes of money to buy your way or ready to sell your soul to the devil, then you would not be good enough for any considerations.

Not even if you got your first degree in Havard, a Second Degree in Yale or Princeton and cap it with a PhD from University of Oxford. 

In fact, the more educated or exposed academically you are, the more you would be repulsive to them because, your kind is too smart and, therefore, a big threat to their empty ego.

The more intelligent you are,  the less qualified you would become in Naija. No wonder, most of our best brains are “drained overseas” and making waves outside the shores of the country. The ones who for one reason or the other are still here, live in frustration because while they know what to do and really desire to sort out most of our problems, they  are not given the opportunities or platforms on which to exhibit their knowledge.

 

If our country can come out on the scene of play with 60% of our First Eleven, 30% of the “B” Team, and merely make up the remaining 10% from the Academy group, I bet you, we would beat any nation in the so called First World.

Have you ever seen a chicken lay eggs, incubates them and when they hatch, she chases or scatters the good chicks only for hawks to feed on them while she shields the remaining unhatched but rotten eggs from the hawk?
