Convener of the Indigenous People of Nigeria, IPN, Mazi Nnamdi Iroegbu has on Sunday, 15th August 2021, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the growing killings of the indigenous people in the country, by armed men.

Mazi Iroegbu stated this in an open letter to the President, following the recent pictures of the President and the National Leader of his political party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu in his London residence, that have been trending the social media space.

Both leaders were reportedly on medical trip to obtain "quality medical healthcare", something which cannot be said to be available in Nigeria.

Below is the letter from Mazi Nnamdi Iroegbu to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Excerpts:

Mr. President, We welcome you back to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We hope you are well? We saw some pictures of your images when you were in London, England.

We watched clips of your representation at the Education summit that you went for where you told the world that nobody can achieve beyond their educational trainings.

Mr. President, we saw the pictures that you took with Asiwaju Bola Tinibu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, your own party, standing side-by-side.

We, as Indigenous People of Nigeria, are wondering what the both of you want?

Mr. President, yourself and Asiwaju Tinubu, who are supposed to be the leaders of our country, were found in London, England, in a posh environment (Tinubu's residence), smiling to the camera after getting the best of medical attention while Nigeria burns.

The Indigenous People of Nigeria are being slaughtered by the day in Jos, Plateau state. They are also being slaughtered across several communities in Zamfara state, Katsina state, where you hail from and even in the Federal Capital Territory, where you officially reside.

While you were away Mr. President, all these have continued to ravage the land. Politics have started rearing its face with the two major political parties having internal struggles at the moment. But, we hope that the leadership that you, Mr. President represents, will guide the two major political parties to go where Nigeria ought to go.

We say this because, history will be fair to you if you are able to provide Justice, Equity and Fairness, even in this wee hours of your administration.

History will be kind to you, Mr. President, if you drive the enabling environment that will represent the oneness of Nigeria which, every Indigenous People of Nigeria accuse you of sidelining, including people of your own ethnic nationality because, the Fulanis are also endangered. They are endangered because, while you were away, while your government is on, these invaders, which Mr. President, confirmed that they came from Libya and Central African Republic, invaded our communities and slaughtered indigenous people, all in the name of landgrabbing.

As the President and Commander-in-Chief, you are expected to jettison every parochial and political interests and put Nigeria first.

The Indigenous People of Nigeria, IPN will participate in the choice of the next President of Nigeria because, we are the victims.

Therefore, Mr President, we restate our plea and prayer that you lead the nation beyond political and parochial interest, and put the Nigeria first at this critical time.
