A media strategist and Coalition for Media Politics, CMP, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has called on the National Working Committee, NWC and the National Convention Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, to zone the position of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, NPS, to South-South Geopolitical Zone.

Oghenesivbe, who is a respected chieftain of the PDP, made this appeal in Asaba, on Friday upon receiving the news that the National Convention of the party has slated for October 30/31, 2021.

According to Oghenesivbe, who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Delta State Governor, "in rebranding the party to win the forthcoming presidential election, there is the need to restructure the publicity architecture of the party, so as to effectively and efficiently checkmate stubborn propagandists of the All Progressives Congress, APC".

The media guru and notable political communication expert asserted that "the battle ahead will be fierce and dogged", saying that the many failures of the APC national government under President Mohammadu Buhari, shall be painted “white” and strategically manipulated in their favour if PDP fail to provide a corresponding crack team of publicists led by an experienced, bold and pragmatic communication strategist.

The learned silk and multiple award winner in strategic communication and leadership, further posited that he will consider vying for the office of PDP national publicity secretary if the position is zoned to South-South in the ongoing rebranding efforts, through the national convention scheduled to hold in the month of October, this year.

“It is obvious that our great party is in dare need of capable hands, men and women of great ideas and expertise to craft strategies that will take us far and above the propaganda machinery of the APC, and if we must win the presidential election in 2023, only round pegs should be in round holes through the instrumentality of the forthcoming national convention.

“I urge the great leaders of our party to zone the position of National Publicity Secretary, NPS, to South-South, to afford me and other great political communicators the opportunity to compete for the position and subsequently use our wealth of experience and professional skills to effectively serve our party.

“I have the depth, the creative writing skills, sound academic background, the wealth of experience and deep knowledge of political issues and socioeconomic developments as a master and academic scholar of Public and International affairs.

“Out great party, PDP, is in dare need of a strong and result oriented voice to efficiently and effectively deal with the multifaceted negative propaganda of APC national government, which is why I am urging our leaders to zone NPS to South-South to enable me offer my humble self for this all important assignment,” Oghenesivbe said.
