THE NON FUNCTIONING STREET LIGHTS IN THE UGHELLI DUAL ROAD.... A Blessing Or Another Scam.

"I make bold to declare that these street lights have become one of such umbrellas that have become not only an heavy load but also a big burden on Ughelli Town since they no longer serve  the purpose for which they were installed".... Comrade Ibebe.

"Now that the street lights are no longer serving these two primary purposes as well as any other function as they no longer provide light, it's my candid opinion that the state government should please uninstall and take them away since all plea to have them repair and adequately maintained for proper functioning has fallen on deaf ears".

Concerned stakeholders in Ughelli North Local Government Council Area have expressed their concerns and worry over the non-function of the street lights installed by the Delta State Government, purposefully to beautify and lighten up the environment, for security and safety of the residents.

According to a statement issued and signed by Comrade Rufus 

 We were told by the Delta State Government that street lights were installed in the Ughelli Dual Road (from Ekiugbo to Otovwodo) for two primary purposes; beautification and strengthen of security within the town.

Now that the street lights are no longer serving these two primary purposes as well as any other function as they no longer provide light, it's my candid opinion that the state government should please uninstall and take them away since all plea to have them repair and adequately maintained for proper functioning has fallen on deaf ears.

In the words of the renowned and legendary Urhobo Orator, Late Prof. Ofua Akpomedaye, "an umbrella when taken on a journey become a load and burden if it does not rain". 

I make bold to declare that these street lights have become one of such umbrellas that have become not only an heavy load but also a big burden on Ughelli Town since they no longer serve  the purpose for which they were installed.

These non functioning street lights have become places were people with faulty thinking ability display their wares and other personal belongings  making them one of the major elements defacing the town instead of the beautification elements that they were meant to be.

Saying that these non functioning street lights are among major factors causing accidents in the town would only amount to stating the obvious.

That hoodlums and other agents of destruction freely carry out their trades at nights and the street lights meant to scare them away though the emission light are not functioning is a disgraceful act. This disgraceful act,  should bring shame on those who installed these street lights but failed to put measures in place for their continuous functioning and maintenance.

It's my humble plea therefore, that our harding working and dynamic Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Author Okowa should please kindly and quickly remove these street lights because they no longer serve the purpose for which they were installed.

If we can manage roads without drainages (even though we don't have a choice) we can also manage this road without street lights.
