Trending news from sources in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria have reported the death of the former Presidential Candidate of the defunct National Republican Party, NRC, in the June 12 elections, adjudged to be the freest, fairest ever in Nigeria, Alhaji Bashir Tofa is dead.

Recall, Bashir Tofa contested for the presidency alongside Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola but purportedly lost the election which was however annulled by the General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida led junta.

Sources revealed that the former NRC presidential candidate died in the early hours of Monday after battling with an ailment for years.
