2023 PRESIDENCY: Northern Coalition Group Restates Unshakable Stance Behind Atiku Abubakar's Candidacy

A Coalition of twenty-eight Support Groups in the Northwest region of Nigeria, under the aegis of Coalition of North West Support Groups for Atiku CNWSGA, has called on the public to disregard comments by some unidentified group of youths, who had denounced the bid by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria's former Vice President, to seek election as President, come 2023.

The Coalition of North West Support Groups for Atiku, CNWSGA, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Zachariah Sunday Diwong,  Hon. Engr. Yusuf Ahmed (Kano State) Secretary, Hon. Muhammad Ahmed (Katsina State) Organizing Secretary on Wednesday and made available to journalists, said;

"We, the leaders of the Twenty Eight (28) Support Groups in the North West Nigeria, under the named, Coalition of North West Support Groups for Atiku CNWSGA, on behalf of our entire members, wish to call on the general public to disregard the insignificant, minute and callus paid agents who claimed to denounced their support for HE. Atiku Abubakar's bid for 2023 Presidency."

"It has come to our notice that some set of friends, teamed up and claiming to be Coalition of Arewa youths Organization, recently issued a statement, denouncing their support for HE. Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa in his bid to contest the 2023 presidency.

"After their so-called press conference, it was confirmed that such a group has never registered with Atiku Abubakar support group (ASG) nor have any register of membership in the entire North."

Hon. Diwong, in the statement, stressed that, "After a careful investigation by our members from the Coalition of NorthWest Support Groups for Atiku,  We hereby wish to state categorically that:

"The so-called Arewa groups are non-existent and so, could not speak the minds of the Youths in the North.

"Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa, is a Nigerian so he is permitted and empowered by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to contest any political seat in Nigeria.

"Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa, is in his mid 70s, in sound health, energetic, mentally sound and supported by the Constitution of FRN, which has no age limit for Presidential Candidates.

"Till this date, Atiku Abubakar still contributes to National development." The statement read.

CNWSGA further stated that, "Just like some part of the geo-political zones are agitating for their turn to govern Nigeria, it is worth mentioning here that the North East should also be given the opportunity to govern too.

"Remember the regional flow/trend of leadership/presidency was from South West to North West then to South South and back to North West.

"Now, we pray and seek your support that it goes to the North East too.

CNWSGA reiterates that, "Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa is the most Experienced Personality who have all his investment in the Nigerian people, which is the qualities needed now to rebuild Nigeria.

Some of his qualities include, but not limited to the following:

- A complete democrat

- an investor in Nation building

- A unifying factor in the unity of Nigeria

- A believer in true federalism.

- An unbiased personality

- A leader that is concerned about the future of our youths and children.

In its conclusion, CNWSGA said: "We are calling on all Nigerians to disregard any statement that will cost us the unity of Nigeria, let us support the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar.

 "Let's make Nigeria work again." It said.
