Mazi Nnamdi Dickson Iroegbu |
"The Southeast must be supported to produce the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria so that the sense of citizen participation and ownership of the country can be evident to everyone. This is the reason IPN identifies with the cause of the Southeast for 2023 Presidency.
The socio-cultural organisation representing the Igbo people globally, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has been commended for the setting up of an ‘action committee’ that will steer the bid for an Igbo Presidency, come 2023.
Giving this commendation is the Indigenous People of Nigeria,
IPN a pressure group advocating for good governance and a better society for
all Nigerians.
The IPN, in a statement signed by its Convener, Mazi Nnamdi Dickson Iroegbu on Saturday, February 05, 2022, commended Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the initiative of setting up an Action Committee headed by the President General and leader of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organization worldwide (Prof. Amb. George Obiozor) toward the actualization of a South East Presidency, come 2023.
“Prof. Obiozor is a man of excellence and repute, an International Diplomat, who understands the game of power, and strategy. He understands the game of power and knows the need to lobby and woo other Nigerians and other interest groups in stating that Justice, Equity and Fairness know no boundary, but apply to all people under God's creation.
"The Southeast must be supported to produce the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria so that the sense of citizen participation and ownership of the country can be evident to everyone. This is the reason IPN identifies with the cause of the Southeast for 2023 Presidency.
“We make ourselves available to Ohanaeze Ndigbo in times like this
to build bridges with them alongside other ethnic nationalities and interest
groups for the much expected unity that our nation desires earnestly in 2023.” Mazi
Iroegbu stated.
Speaking further in the statement, Nnamdi Iroegbu stated that IPN
as a group, seeks to draw the attention of the major opposition party, the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP wherein, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the
party had made a comment as regard the position of the party and the
forthcoming election in 2023.
“We also draw the attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
to a statement made by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, who, while
addressing a group of Northerners in Abuja, declared that the Party had thrown
the contest for its Presidential flagbearer open to all Nigerians irrespective
of geopolitical zone, hence inferring that the party has jettisoned zoning
completely.
“Our advice to PDP and APC, and other political parties, is to ensure
that all actions taken by their Party is in the interest of the people of
Nigeria.
“We once again reiterate that the yearnings of the majority of
Nigerians across the six zones is that, power should shift to the Southeastern
Nigeria for equity, fairness and justice for all. In times of perdition like we
find ourselves in Nigeria today, the need to petition for salvation from the
East is the common action in nation building.” IPN stated.
