TRAILER RAMS INTO MARKET IN ABA… Kills Five, Destroys Goods

Calamity has struck residents of Ogbor Hill Bridge in the commercial city of Aba, Abia state, Southeast of nigeria on Thursday, February 03, 2022 when an articulated vehicle lost control and rammed into a busy trading environment, killing five persons and goods worth millions of naira destroyed.

Eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that among the dead victims were two brothers, identified as twins including passengers of a tricycle, popularly called “Keke” that were crushed to death.

 

Although, one of the set of twins; a seller of plastic containers around the market has been confirmed dead while the other is yet to be located.

 

Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and men of the state Transport Management Scheme, otherwise known as TIMAS, were on ground including trades and passersby trying to assist the victims.

 

Meanwhile, the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the immediate closure of the abattoir/cattle market and Ahia Udele market.

 

The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Abia Commissioner for Trade and Investment, John Kalu, on Thursday.
