The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Western Zone today urged elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark to continue his progressive activism of restructuring, of environmental degradation and constituting a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC as well as a plethora of issues affecting Niger Delta people as the Independent Newspaper of Nigeria conferred on him (Clark), "Life Time Achiever Award."

IYC made the call in a statement signed by its Information Officer, Lugard Izoukumor.

The IYC congratulated the former  Federal Commissioner for Information for the "Life Time Achiever Award".

The IYC noted that the life of Chief Clark whom it described as father and mentor has been a life of struggles and victories.

The IYC said, "The award is indeed a reward of his modest contributions to the “National Question” of how to restructure Nigeria into the path of inclusive and sustainable development. 

According to the IYC, "Pa. Clark has taken battles (wars) to intellectual adversaries as an intellectual. And we dare say, Indeed, Pa Clark seldom loses. He never retreats. He precipitates, no retreat, no surrender. Ijaw people at large are proud of his legendary leadership of wisdom in the unity and peace he has preached.

"However, for us in the IYC particularly, we see this award as a reward of patriotism and urge our father, leader and mentor to continuously imbibe by the words of Benjamin Franklin: “There never was a truly great man that was not at the same time truly virtuous. We are proud of you Papa! Congratulations, Sir!!"
