The Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the United States Embassy in Abuja has complemented the Interior Affairs Ministry, its Permanent Secretary and agencies under its supervision.

The INL has a long history of partnering with, and providing technical assistance to the government of Nigeria's Law Enforcement Agencies, such as the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC).


The INL Country Director, Mr. Jason Smith emphasized that INL will continue to engage the Ministry and its Agencies in future programmes.


Contributing, the Director, Joint Services Department of the Ministry, Mr Peter Egbodo thanked the team for the visit and highlighted other areas of collaboration, such as the Situation Room (NIPSAS), Internal Security and Fire Safety. 

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, thanked them and highlighted the Ministry's activities expecially, the Country's internal Security and Citizenship integrity. 

He reiterated that collaboration with Nigeria Immigration Services would be key on drug law enforcement since they manned the boarders. He also stated that INL team would be invited to the launch of NIPSAS and also looking forward to the renewal of the collaboration with INL.
