ASHIRU Vs MAINAN ZAZZAU: Judge To Rule On Disqualifying Self From Hearing The Matter

"It is a pity that this cheap propaganda against Isa Mohammed Ashiru is coming from an intellectual." Edward John Auta

The Director, Media Relations to the Isa Ashiru Governorship Campaign Consultative Working Committee, Mr. Edward John Auta has described as "pitiable", the allegation by Muhammad Sani Bello, Mainan Zazzau, against his principal, Honourable Mohammed Isa Ashiru.

Edward John Auta made this known on Monday, 25th April, 2022 shortly after a Court in Kaduna, sitting to hear the case, adjourned to the 9th of May, for further hearing.

"It is a pity that this cheap propaganda against Isa Mohammed Ashiru is coming from an intellectual."

Auta, while reacting to questions, wondered why Muhammed Sani Bello would stoop to the level of maligning the leading gubernatorial aspirant even as he stressed that it could only have been out of envy of his principal, who had, in the 2019 primaries of their political party, defeated him.

He said; "I wonder why Mainan Zazzau has stoop low to the level of maligning Ashiru. I felt he did that out of envy, having defeated him during the party’s primary in 2019.

"However, Ashiru’s pedigree in politics can not be matched by Mainan Zazzau. Given any opportunity, Ashiru will defeat him over and over again. He is not a match."

Edward, a respected political analyst in Kaduna State, called on the good people of Kaduna State to jettison the propaganda, saying, "Ashiru is a man of integrity. I can assure you, he can’t fake certificates.

However, Honourable Justice Edward Andow of the High Court in Kaduna adjourned to 9th May, 2022 for the hearing of the motion for the Judge to disqualify himself from hearing the matter following a notice filed by the defendant counsel.

The matter is the ongoing trial of defamation of character over an interview Mainan Zazzau, Muhammad Sani Bello granted prior to the 2019 general election alleging that Isa Mohammed Ashiru has fake certificate.

"The matter was slated for a motion on notice filed by the defendant counsel for the judge to disqualify himself from hearing the matter," said Samuel Atung SAN, Counsel to the Plaintiff, Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammad Ashiru.

"We responded to that motion and he has seven days to respond to reply to the process we filed. So, he insisted on the Seven days and on the account of that, the matter was adjourned to 9th May, 2022 for the hearing of his motion for the judge to disqualify himself from hearing the matter." Atung, SAN stated.
