OSHOGBO TOWNSHIP STADIUM RECONSTRUCTION, COMMENCES. .... "Sports Will Be A Major Focus Of The Governor In His Second Coming." Says Lawal.

The reconstruction of the Oshogbo Township Stadium has commenced at a speedy pace following the approval of the Governor of Osun state, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola.


It is recalled that His Excellency, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola had last last month, March 2022 given the go ahead for the reconstruction of the Oshogbo Township Stadium so that sporting activities such as football matches can resume, Including track and field events.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Yemi Lawal, who had made promises about the reconstruction, is ensuring that work goes on smoothly, in order to deliver the government's promise.


The stadium, following governments' directive, was closed down for construction work so as to bring it to meet the required standard of the LMC, NNL and NWFL.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr  Yemi Lawal, alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Adelabu Aremo Lateef, have remained upbeat about ensuring the reconstruction and completion of the work, so that Osun United Football Club can play its second round matches or part of it at the stadium.


The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Mr Vincent Akinbami while responding to questions, stressed that the Governor wants to ensure that the State helps the clubs; Osun United and Osun Babes meet the infrastructural requirements of the Club Licensing requirements.


Speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Yemi Lawal disclosed that Governor Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola wants to ensure that sport becomes a priority in his agenda, as this is aimed at engaging the youths and take them off the streets, especially from negativities.

He added that, "sports will be a major focus of the governor in his second coming."
