"A raid is a legitimate strategy emplaced by the police and other Security agencies to curb crimes and criminality." Adejobi.

The Police Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, FPRO, has provided explanations including the necessary measures to take by nigerians, in a situation whereby, one falls into a raid by the Police.

Disclosing this recently on Friday via his official Twitter account, CSP Adejobi stated that, "a raid is a legitimate strategy emplaced by the police and other Security agencies to curb crimes and criminality."

In his tweet, the FPRO said; “Let me state clearly that raid is a legitimate strategy emplaced by the police and other Security agencies to curb crimes and criminality. However it must be done professionally and devoid of extortion. We condemn raid geared towards raising fund or money.

“Whenever one is raided, all he needs do is to tender his ID, if any, or call a reputable someone who can identify him and vouch for him. Once you have been duly identified, you are to be released unconditionally.

“So the issue of paying for bail again should not arise because it is tantamount to double jeopardy in law. So report to your command PPROs or our regular platforms if you experience this.

“We always embark on raids of black spots or criminal dens, it’s not negotiable. But make sure you have your ID with you whenever you are out. Thanks.”

This clarification has become very expident with claims and counter claims by several persons who have gotten trapped in such incidences. 

According to a political activist, Idibia Idang, "this clarification by CSP Adejobi is a welcome development by the police and a very commendable.

"It simply tells that Nigeria and Nigerians now have a round peg in a round hole, managing the publicity department of the its police force, under the right leadership. 

"As a people, it behove on Nigerians to provide the police force, with the needed support to succeed as the NPF cannot deliver on its mandate alone, without the necessary support from the populace."

He called on the nigerians to ensure that they carry on themselves at all times possible, valid means of identification, avoid crime prone areas, avoid drugs; its misuse and abuse, report suspicious persons in their environment and above all, respect the laws of the country, including its law enforcement agents.
