Gov. Okowa hosted the first meeting of Southern govs forum. The Asaba declaration was well received across the country and beyond. 

Along the line leaders of the Southern and Middle Belt Forum zeroed the Presidential ticket to the South East on the basis of equity, fairness and justice. The Atiku group headed by Gen. Aliyu Gusua with Sen. Ben Obi, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi and several others approached Gov. Okowa not to get involved with the presidential race. He was promised a running mate slot to sabotage the aspiration of the SE, to demonstrate seriousness he began to finance the campaign of Atiku. 

Gov. Okowa who has Ifeanyichukwu as his middle name stabbed the Igbo nation in the back with a rough knife. He had messed up Gov. James Ibori his godfather over the gubernatorial slot in Delta state.
