CURFEW NOT DECLARED IN OKPANAM COMMUNITY, Says Delta Police Commissioner, Ari M. Ali .... Police Arrest Two Suspects In Connection With Attack On Police Patrol Team

The Delta State Police Command has debunked rumours of a "6pm-6am curfew purportedly imposed onin Okpanam with effect from  26/7/22 to enable security agencies carry out their job".

The Police Command, in a statement issued and signed by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, described it as not only laughable but completely ridiculous and a lie put up by some mischievous persons to cause confusion among residents of the community. 

According to the State PPRO, "the Command wishes to emphatically state that there is no curfew declared in Okpanam community and as a matter of fact, Okpanam community is calm and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident that led to the death of three policemen in the early hours of Sunday 24/7/2022 and the Command is closing up on the other members of the gang.

DSP Edafe Bright, while giving further insights into the incident, told Naij News Alert that, "at about 4:40hrs of the day, men of the Okpanam Division, while responding to a distress call, ran into an ambush by unknown armed hoodlums and, in the process, three of our personnel were killed.

"The Command has been able to arrest one of the suspects who is helping us with useful information. We are also using this opportunity to call on members of the public who have one or two information that can help us apprehend others at large."

DSP Edafe stated that the Command is doing its best and believes that in no time, apprehend the remaining suspects and they will be made to face justice.
