DEFECTION GALE HITS APC, THREATENS LAWAN AS SENATE PRESIDENT .... Avoids Reading Letters Of Defection Of 12 Senators From APC

Trending reports reveal that, President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan is reportedly refusing to read out defection letters from twelve (12) senators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The reports, which are yet to be confirmed, reveals that the Senate President is deliberately avoiding to read the defection letters, all in a bid order to block any impeachment threat against his position.

The numerical strength of the ruling party recently reduced from 64 to 62 in the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly while that of the Opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has risen from 39 to 41 in the last couple of days.

Also, the present division in the polity has seen the New Nigeria Peoples Party having two senators and the Young Progressives Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance, now having one senator each.

Among the lawmakers who submitted a defection notice is Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, who submitted his defection letter to Lawan.

DAILY REPORT recalls that the minority caucus of the senate had staged a walkout to demand the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over a consistent rise in security.

Some opposition senators were also said to be considering the removal of the Senate president if he he were to stand against the impeachment process of President Buhari.
