A group of concerned stakeholders and residents of Ekiti state have come down hard on their State Governor, Kayode Fayemi for what they have described as fraudulent, deceptive and an economic sabotage that has fleeced the economy of the state and its people.

The group, under the aegis of Concerned Ekiti Residents for Sustainable Development and Quality Governance, decried the non-utilization of the Ekiti Airport built the by Kayode Fayemi administration as the biggest scam deployed by the All Progressives Congress, APC to defraud the good people of the state and also, destroy the economic stability of the state.

Lamenting the situation in Ekiti state, Convener of the Group, Prince Abiodun Kolawole wondered how the state governor could go to sleep at night, knowing that no aircraft, including “witchcraft” has come into the airport he spent billions of naira to construct and commission in 2022, except for a Nigeria Air Force Aircraft that touched down on 15 October 2022. 

“In Ebonyi state, the Umahi led government built and commissioned its airport and by the following day, an Aircraft from AIR PEACE has landed there to the admiration of all the citizens of the state. How is Ebonyi different from Ekiti state,” Kolawole queried.

The convener of the group therefore called on all residents to join in the push for an in-depth investigation as to the amount invested into the design, construction of the airport and why, till date, it has not witnessed the landing of airplanes in Ekiti.

“What is stopping the airport from been out into use after the first air force plane that landed there in October 15, 2022?”

“The good people of Ekiti state deserve and demand an urgent answer from Fayemi and his government of deceit, wasteful expenditure and poor utilization of scarce resources.” The group demanded.
