BARR. MUTFWANG AND THE CHALLENGES AHEAD IN PLATEAU STATE... By Hon. Zachariah Sunday Diwong

Barr. Caleb Mutfwang

"Governor elect Barr. Caleb Mutfwang must take a drastic measure to ensure that the problem of insecurity is tackled immediately he assumes office." Diwong.

The people of Plateau State came out in mass, during the March 29th election to vote their governor for the next four (4)years. It was in the same election that the state legislatures were also elected.

Barr. Caleb Mutfwang of PDP emerged as the preferred candidate to take on the mandate to drive the state to the "Promised Land."

The people of Plateau State have spoken and so, everyone has gone back, relaxed and with great expectations, to see how Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, Governor elect, will drive Plateau State.

Since Barr. Caleb Mutfwang was declared Governor elect of Plateau State and, knowing the huge task ahead of him, he has not spent a day without thinking about how to build and groom the state to a fine and wholesome Plateau, considering the massive support given to him during the election.

He has embarked on wide consultations, both within and outside Plateau State.

For every right thinking person, who wants to see a new, prosperous Plateau State, it is time for us to come together, reason together and contribute towards making a new prosperous Plateau State a reality.

Our contributions may come by identifying the key factors that may hinder the realization of a prosperous Plateau State and subsequently profound solutions to such hindrances.

We are all aware that one of the major factors that hinders development is the problem of insecurity.

Plateau State, over time has been confronted with the issue of insecurity. This has persisted till date.

Governor elect Barr. Caleb Mutfwang must take a drastic measure to ensure that the problem of insecurity is tackled immediately he assumes office.

My take on this is, the need for Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, who will be the chief security officer of the state immediatly he is sworn in, to set up a special security operative which will include our Retired, but not tired, armed force men.

This special security operative should be equipped with necessary equipments as permitted by law.

The Special security operative should coopt our already existing vigilantee and hunter groups to combat insecurity.

Our traditional rulers should not be left behind in discussing and finding solutions to insecurity in the State.

Another Challenge that Barr. Caleb Mutfwang will grossly be confronted with in the state is the issue of debt management.

It is no longer news that Plateau State, through the past administrations, has incurred both local and foreign debts running into billions of nairas.

This, if not properly managed will hinder the development of the state.

Barr. C. Mutfwang must employ technicalities of debt services that will favor his administration to enable him attend to issues of necessity, while clearing the debts.

More also, the governor elect, must reorganize all revenue generating sectors to be effective in maximizing revenue generation in the State as guided by laws.

Another challenge ahead is infrastructural deficit.

We are all aware that the past eight years of APC government of Gov. Simon Bako Lalong has not witnessed any infrastructural development in Plateau State.

While population kept increasing, pressure is increasingly mounted on the infrastructures provided by the then Governor Jonah David Jang.

Road infrastructures has been completely abandoned.

Educational infrastructures are in a sorry stage.

Our hospitals are decaying day by day.

Clean water Supply both at Urban areas and rural areas have been abandoned or neglected.

Just to mention but a few.

Bar. Caleb Mutfwang must seek immediate technical experts to profound solutions in tackling the above mentioned as it has direct impact on the people.

Plateau State being an agrarian State, there is an urgent need for the incoming administration to rapidly diversify our agrarian economy.

This can be done through provision of modern farm techniques and equipments and educating farmers on new improved seeds and developments in farming.

Encourage the availability of suitable chemicals for fertility at an appropriate time.

Educational Sector must be given outmost priority.

When you educate the citizens, you avert crime in the State.

Therefore, the challenge of revamping the educational sector must be considered by the incoming administration.

My Prayers for Bar. Caleb Mutfwang, is for God to give him Wisdom and God fearing experience cabinet members that will work with him.

God bless Bar. Caleb Mutfwang

God bless Plateau State
