PERM SECRETARY INTERIOR MINISTRY UNDERTAKES FAMILARISATION TOUR TO SERVICES

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on Thursday commenced a familiarisation tour to Agencies under the supervision of her Ministry to get acquainted with the operations of the Services in her new station.

Dr. Akinlade, expressed appreciation for the worm reception accorded her and her team, she said; "I want to particularly acknowledge the female squad. You have made me proud. I want to thank you for everything I have seen here, the skills and capacity is amazing, I am really impressed and proud of the Service".

In a statement issued and signed by Afonja Fatai Ajibola, Deputy Director Press and Public Relations Department of the Federal Ministry of Interior, the Permanent Secretary encouraged personnel of the service to be a good ambassador of the country, adding that; "their role is very important to the security of the nation, she said for Nigeria to be great the service must own their responsibility for the protection of critical national assets of the nation."

The Permanent Secretary commended the Commandant General of NSCDC Dr. Abubakar Audi for being professional in raising the bar of the service.

She charged the personnel to be disciplined, loyal, and law abiding officers and assured the corps that she would be there for them to succeed in achieving their mandates.

At the Correctional Service headquarters, the Permanent Secretary stated that she was pleased with the change of the name of the Service to Correctional, which she said was very apt, to underscore the rehabilitation and reformation drive in the nation's custodian facilities as opposed to hitherto punitive measure.

According to her, criminality has advanced with technology and therefore, she implored the service to align itself with the new trends in fighting insecurity in global best standards if they desire to succeed.

Dr. Akinlade, however, stressed on the need for welfare of the officers and Men of the corps, in the area of promotion and other incentives to make them comfortable in delivering their mandates. She emphasized that promotion must be at when due, nobody should be stagnated, in order to boost their morals and she assured the service for her support.

Dr Akinlade commended the Controller General of Correctional Service, Aliyu Nababa for due diligence to see that the Inmates in the facilities gets the required training both in education and skills to reorientate them to be useful to themselves and the society at large.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary at the Federal Fire Service also expressed satisfaction  in the data centre of the Service, adding that the facilities would give real time information on intelligence gathering, sharing, storage and retrieval of information, when needed in respect of location of fire incident scenes for prompt response in the country. She also congratulated the service for their inclusion to President's convoy, adding that such feats was achieved as a result of the massive investment in the service in the last 8 years of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Dr Akinlade called on state government and well meaning Nigerians to invest in fire service to save lives and properties of the citizens.

The CGs of the service, Engr Olola Abdulganiyu Jaji expressed satisfaction on the visit of the Permanent Secretary he said she has started on the right footing.
