BISH JOHNSON SLAMS ASARI DOKUBO'S PRIVATE ARMY .... Says It's Illegal And Unconstitutional

The Chief Convener of Mass Protest to End Sit-at-Home in the Southeast of Nigeria, Capt Bish C. Johnson US Army Rtd, has lambasted ex-militant leader, Asari Dokubo, describing his "private army" as illegal and unconstitutional.

Bish Johnson, in an interview with Trust Television anchor, Abduralman Umar, the retired US Army Captain who is also a Security Expert and

Strategist, accused them of perpetuating the violence in the Southeast using the cover of "Sit-at-Home" and vowed that he and his group of CSOs will work with other stakeholders in the region and the country to end Sit-at-Home and eventually eliminate the cover for which criminal elements have used to perpetuate violence in the region. 

According to him, "the use of private Army in Nigeria portends danger and undermines our state owned security agencies and Armed Forces. If what this man, Asari Dokubo is saying is true, then Nigeria is in grave danger. 

"You know there's an old and popular adage which says that "Giving a monkey a cup of water to drink is not the issue, the issue is how to recover the cup from the monkey afterwards."

"Our own history here at home and several other places around the world should be our guide. The war in Sudan today has its foundation in a government back Militia group known then as Janjaweed, which was backed by then government of Omar al-Bashir of Sudan to suppress rebellion in the Dafur region of the country. 

"That militia with government support grew in manpower and capacity and later became the Rapid Support Forces, RSF. The RSF would later combine forces with the Sudanese Armed Forces to oust the same President, Omar al-Bashir from power. It is the same RSF that is fighting the Sudanese Armed Forces now in a very bloody war that has left tenths of hundreds dead and tenths of thousands displaced.

"Nigerian Armed Forces have been the protector of not just our democracy but they have also been the guarantor of the Nigerian state since 1960 to date. They have performed those roles excellently and perfectly well, so let there be no reason now for this nation to sanction the use of private armies to usurp the powers of our Armed Forces and security agencies and undermine their constitutional authority and powers." Johnson concluded.
