The OML42 Youth Forum has presented proposals to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, the National Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, NECONDE, JV and other agencies as it sought the support of the organisation in empowering 120 persons with skills acquisition programme for wealth creation.

Presenting the proposals, Chairman of the OML42 Forum at a workshop held on Friday, September 1, 2023, in Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area in Delta State, Comrade Bakawei Mamamu passionately appealed for their supports to enable the Forum achieve its target.

While noting that the OML42 Forum is set to empower about 120 persons within its catchment area, Mamamu said the only challenge the Forum has is funding.

He said; "if the interventionist agency and the International Oil Companies, IOCs helped the Forum, it would enable them create jobs for the teeming youths apart from just empowering them with skills."

In a remark, the representative of the Ijaws in DESOPADEC Board, Mr. Bernard Okoh assured the OML42 Youth Forum of the Commission's support in realising its agenda.

A two time Commissioner in Delta State, Olorogun (Dr) Ebenezar Okorodudu commended the leadership of OML42 Youth Forum pointing out that they worked hard for the support and emergence of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to be Governor during the electioneering campaigns in the State.

He said Governor Oborevwori owes Deltans, especially the OML42 Youth Forum in the areas of quality development.

According to Olorogun Okorodudu, "The leadership are my friends. I will stand firmly by you."

Olorogun Okorodudu urged the youths to equip themselves if they want to be purposeful leaders of tomorrow and not indulge in any type of nefarious activities that could jeopardise their future.

"Acquire the right knowledge. Be mindful of the type of friends you keep if you want to live long."

While noting that parents are responsible for the ills in society, Olorogun Okorodudu said some parents depend on their children who did not go to school to pay their rentage as well as feed them.

He enjoined parents to take proper care of their children just as he said, government at all levels have failed the citizens in all its ramifications.

High point of the colourful event were lectures delivered by resource persons including Human Rights Activist, Comrade Israel Joe, Environmental Right Activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade and others.
