Universities all over the world, according Nigeria's Minister of Interior Affairs, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, are not just meant to train people. They are meant to provide solutions to problems.
He stressed that "Universities are meant to be repository of knowledge, where we can get solutions for both lingering and immediate problems."
The Minister therefore called on Nigeria Academia to key into research that would enable it proffer solutions to socio-economic and security problems.
He made this known when he received in audience, the Management Team of the University of Abuja led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
Honourable Tunji-Ojo in a statement issued and signed by Ozoya Imohimi, Director Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry, noted that the job of the academic does not end in just training but in research and development.
"It is through research that solution can be provided." He said.
