FG Postpones Inauguration, Retreat Of Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions

"The postponement of the inauguration was a result of the Presidential directive, as conveyed by the State House Press Release dated 23rd May 2024, for a comprehensive review of the membership of the Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria."

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the immediate postponement of the Inauguration and Retreat for Pro-Chancellors, Chairmen and Members of Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions.

The ceremony was earlier scheduled for Thursday, 30th and Friday, 31st May 2024.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry, Folasade Boriowo and made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday.

According to the statement, "the postponement of the inauguration was a result of the Presidential directive, as conveyed by the State House Press Release dated 23rd May 2024, for a comprehensive review of the membership of the Governing Councils of Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria."

"We regret any inconveniences this may cause." The statement read.

The ministry further announced that "Further updates will be communicated in due course.

"We appreciate your understanding and cooperation." The statement concluded
