The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu has been commended over his struct insistence and adherence  to laid down rules of the Nigeria Police Force especially as it concerns the operations of the officers and men under his command.

The commendation of CP Disu followed reports by some residents who had petitioned the Rivers State Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police of the activities of some personnel of the Command allegedly providing police protection to suspected land grabbers operating in communities along the Obiri Ikwerre-International Airport road in the state.

The action and response of CP Olatunji Disu, described as very proactive, has resulted in the arrest of the team of Police personnel reportedly providing cover to suspected grabbers by a team of policemen on the orders of State Commissioner of Police.

Reports reveal that the police personnel are alleged to be providing security protection to some men who had always claimed they were working for the state government to recover land when the team from CP’s office invaded the place and arrested them.

Eyewitnesses, including some of the victims of the activities of these land grabbers told newsmen how the police suspected to be on illegal duty were arrested and taken away by the team of police officers from the office of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police.

The eyewitnesses revealed that many land owners had experienced untold hardships in the hands of the land grabbers who had inflicted pains on them using their fake police accomplices. They commended CP Disu for his intervention which they said will serve as a deterrent to others.

One of the land owners in the area, Mr. Innocent Amadi, narrated how the suspected land grabbers intimidated and harrassed them daily with policemen and other security agents in the area. He lauded the intervention of the State Police Commissioner.
