MIKE OKIRO'S OHANAEZE NDI-IGBO PRESIDENCY: IPOB DEBUNKS CALL FOR WITHDRAWAL OF OKIRO .... Such Publication Not Only Didn't Emanate From Me, Comrade Emma Powerful, But Never Emanated From IPOB.

Ahead of the January 10, 2025 election for the President of the Igbo Socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo where, former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, KSJI is in the fore front of candidates, the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, has through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful has laid to rest, by issuing a refutal, a statement that was purported to have been issued by IPOB.

The statement, captioned; "RE: IPOB CALLS ON MIKE OKIRO TO STAY OFF OHANEZE NDIGBO PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION", states:

"Our attention has been drawn to a publication making the rounds in the media and attributed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and purported to have been signed by myself, COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL, Media and Publicity Secretary for the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, led by our able leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Ohamadike and Onyendu Biafra, calling on Sir Mike Mbama Okiro KSJI to withdraw from the race for the position of President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo on the grounds that the position is zoned to Rivers State and that he, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro is not eligible to contest because he is not from Rivers State. This publication also described Ogbako Egbema, an umbrella body of Sir Mike Mbama Okiro's community as a faceless body. 

"The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu hereby state categorically and unequivocally that such publication not only didn't emanate from me, Comrade Emma Powerful, the authentic spokesperson of the Indigenous People of Biafra but never emanated from IPOB. 

"Secondly, IPOB's only objective is to achieve a sovereign state of Biafra through a referendum of all Biafrans including several other parts currently under illegal occupation by Nigerian state who are not indigenous Igbos but are indigenous people of Biafra. 

"IPOB therefore has no interest in the election of Ohaneze Ndigbo, a sociocultural group of only Igbo ethnic nationality since IPOB's mandate far exceeds the scope of coverage area of Ohaneze Ndigbo. Limiting IPOB's sphere of interest to affairs of only areas currently occupied by indigenous Igbo people is not only counterproductive to the ideals, goals and aspirations of IPOB but is totally rejected by IPOB. 

"IPOB is therefore calling on those behind the purported publication to desist forthwith in dragging IPOB into an election that's purely and entirely the affairs of Ohaneze Ndigbo or risk the danger of angering IPOB family. 

"The general public is also advised to disregard such publication as it did not emanate from my office or the Indigenous People of Biafra led by our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Ohamadike and Onyendu Biafra.

To this end, supporters of the former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro KSJI have enjoined all stakeholders desirous of quality representation and leadership to come out in their numbers and ensure that a round peg is put in a round hole for the overall growth of all Ndi-Igbo.
