JAMILU SHUAIBU JETTA: KADUNA YOUTH GROUP RAISE ALARM OVER ALLEGED THREAT OF IMPENDING ARREST OF YOUTH LEADER

Hon. Jamilu Shuaibu Jetta

"His incisive and well-reasoned critiques of government policies, focusing on failed promises, abandoned projects, the plight of pensioners, deteriorating security, and systemic neglect in Kaduna State, has also been devoid of insults or polemics, serve as a necessary check on power, ensuring accountability in a democratic setting." Youths in Kaduna state have raised concerns following what is described as an attempt to gag critics of government, seeking quality and transparent  leadership by the ruling All Progressives Congress APC under the administration of Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of the. State.

Reports from sources in Kaduna state reveal that there is an alleged plot to arrest one of the most vocal youth leaders, Jamilu Shuaibu Jetta, a ward chairman under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP following his constructive criticism of the government in power in the state.

Jamilu, a political analyst and Public commentator has been very upbeat about the state of affairs of the nation including the harrowing hardship faced by nigerians and the very high cost of living, especially as it concerns the common man on the streets. His incisive and well-reasoned critiques of government policies, focusing on failed promises, abandoned projects, the plight of pensioners, deteriorating security, and systemic neglect in Kaduna State, has also been devoid of insults or polemics, serve as a necessary check on power, ensuring accountability in a democratic setting.

This, according to sources in Kaduna, may have irked the government in the state and therefore feels threatened by his voice and rising popularity. If the attempt to apply coercion and possibly, unlawful arrest is found to be true, it therefore represents a dangerous escalation in the suppression of dissent in Kaduna State.
Democracy, the world over, thrives on opposition, debate, and the free expression of grievances. When a government resorts to coercion instead of engaging with criticism, it betrays its fear of truth and its contempt for democratic principles.

Therefore, the likely arrest of Jamilu Shuaibu Jetta for merely exercising his constitutional right to free speech, will t a confirmation of the descent of the state into authoritarianism.

Will the state Governor, Senator (Comrade) Uba Sani; a man who benefited largely from being a key player in the civil society sector allow such under his watch happen? Nigerians, especially Kaduna state residents watch keenly.
