.... Announces three major activities to drive the mobilisation, including a North-Central Grand Rally scheduled for October 10 in Lafia, Nasarawa State; a medical outreach programme across the zone; and a grassroots advocacy tour and town hall meetings covering the 19 senatorial districts in the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has mobilised political leaders and stakeholders across the North-Central zone for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.

Akume, who is also Grand Patron of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, spoke on Friday in Abuja at a strategic meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, and other leaders of the mobilisation network.

He said the initiative was aimed at taking the campaign beyond Abuja to communities across the zone, stressing that the strength of electoral mobilisation lies at the grassroots.

The SGF announced three major activities to drive the mobilisation, including a North-Central Grand Rally scheduled for October 10 in Lafia, Nasarawa State; a medical outreach programme across the zone; and a grassroots advocacy tour and town hall meetings covering the 19 senatorial districts in the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to him, the medical outreach will complement the political mobilisation with humanitarian services, including eye screening, refraction and prescription of spectacles, cataract assessment and selected cataract surgeries, glaucoma screening and diabetic eye screening.

Akume said the advocacy tour and town hall meetings would provide opportunities for direct interaction with communities, enabling stakeholders to explain the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration while listening to concerns at the grassroots.

He urged ministers, governors, party leaders and grassroots actors to approach the assignment with commitment, unity and confidence, stressing that the North-Central had a significant role to play in the 2027 elections.

Also speaking, Yilwatda said North-Central stakeholders had resolved to mobilise substantial support for Tinubu across the six states and the FCT.

He announced plans to mobilise APC members and supporters from across the zone for the October 10 rally in Lafia, adding that a reconciliation committee would be established to address grievances and promote unity among party members.

Yilwatda said resolving internal differences was necessary to strengthen the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.

The National Coordinator of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network and Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arch. Sonny Echono, said the initiative was designed to unite the zone as a cohesive bloc and strengthen its collective voice ahead of the 2027 election.

He said the programme would begin with public communication of planned activities, followed by sustained media engagement and grassroots mobilisation across the zone.

In his goodwill message, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, pledged strong media support for the mobilisation activities, while urging stakeholders to pursue broader reconciliation and resolve grievances through dialogue.

The Chairman of the North-Central Governors Forum and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, commended Akume and Echono for bringing stakeholders together.

Sule said the APC had a political advantage in the zone, noting that six states were now controlled by the party, alongside a supportive administration in the FCT.
