A.BUJA AIRPORT: Completion Date Feasible.......... OSINBAJO

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during an assessment tour of the ongoing rehabilitation works being undertaken at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, has expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing repairs so far. 

Professor Osinbajo stated this while acknowledging that the exercise is going according to schedule.

The VP made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja, shortly after inspecting the runway of the airport, again affirming that the airport would be reopened on April 19, 2017

Vice President Osinbajo was accompanied on the tour, by officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The Managing Director of FAAN, Mr Saleh Dunoma, while explaining the design of the rehabilitation to the Vice President, noted that the work done so far, was already 80% complete.

Following the shutdown of operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on March 18, 2017 to enable the rehabilitation of its runway, the Kaduna International Airport has been serving as the alternative for the duration of time with shuttle buses provided to cater for transportation passengers to and fro.

The Abuja-kaduna rail service is also moving passengers who would like to have the experience of travelling by rail, back to either Kaduna or Abuja.

Stakeholders are of the belief that the temporary relocation of flight operations to Kaduna will attract some benefits to Kaduna state as transporters and hoteliers have keyed it, with the expected boom in business.
