"OGBORU IS APC.....Why We Will Vote Him As Governor of Delta State in 2019; Says Group

Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru requires no introduction in the political discuss of Delta state as he regarded as the voice of the people of the state. Fondly referred to as "the Peoples General", this political heavyweight is a leading name in the Delta state chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Following rumours in certain media outfits, particularly the social media that the "Peoples General " had dumped the APC, the Directorate of Media and Communication of the "Light of APC"; a group within the party which has Chief Ogboru, Senator Omo-Agege as leaders, has issued a statement to counter the alleged rumours.

The statement which was signed by Divramredje Lawrence Efeturi on behalf of the Directorate, noted that;

"Some days ago leading up till now, there have been all sorts of mischief rumours on social media, particularly on Facebook, positing that Great Ogboru regretted to have joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) as well as alleging that he accused Olorogun O'tega Emerhor of dishonesty.

According to the statement, "the rumour also has it that Ogboru was set to join the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). It can be recalled that on August 13, 2017 an unusual crowd witnessed the gathering of notable political heroes of the All Progressive Congress across the State when Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, "The People's General" as he is fondly called because of his grassroot mobilisation, and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege touched ground in Abraka. That event was symbolic in that it marked the end of 'Light of Labour' and has "Light of APC" birthed. It was, indeed, a conspicuous assembly of progressives who seek to institute true democracy in Delta State.

"For those that do not have an acquittance of this dogged, but a natural fighter of any form of socio-political misrule, Great Ogboru was the only one who dared challenge James Onanefe Ibori on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (A.D) in 2003. He was by far the most popular, unfortunately the election was rigged for the latter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Sustaining his tenacity, again he contested against Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (James Ibori's uncle) in 2007 and 2011 under Democratic People's Party (DPP). Consequently, he was raped of his mandate. Even when he was ultimately forced for a re-run by the Court, he was also massively rigged. It was Deltans who suffered the brunt because they had a government they never yearned for. In spite of all these injustices, steadfastness was his compass. He could have resorted to violence, for he has the massive grassroot, but chose the path of peace, despite winning all the elections.

"It has been the dream of Great Ogboru to redeem the lost value of reorientations that will position the State to the glory she has lost in the hands of the successive People Democratic Party (PDP)'s governments that had ruled our dear Delta with thuggery, militancy, sycophancy, corruption, bare-free stealing, propaganda, programmes bearing wonderful names with no impacts in the lives of our people. As he puts it: "we need to hit the ground running! We need to tackle the oil curse in a practical manner. Delta has not been short of opportunities, options, laudable projects, enticing programmes and assets that will move the State forward. What we lacked is the political will, a leader who is not burdened by godfathers, thugs, militants or Aso Rock", the statement read.

"Great Ovedje is a politician with integrity. He has the technical capacities to handle those challenging assignments, plans and policies, projects, ideas and initiate solutions to problems bedeviling our dear State, unlike the successive PDP Governors who after taking the oath of office with the Holy Book and performing lousy thanksgiving services, would use their power as an end in itself, instead for public good, thereby making them indifferent to the progress of Deltans. They derive joy in raping the teeming workers of their tax money without commensurate developments. We saw how the flood ravaged the entire State capital, Asaba, and its environs. Projects are haphazardly executed and we see how civil servants are denied their monthly stipends, thereby subjecting them to hardships. Even the federal allocations plus the Paris Club Refunds to the State are diverted for personal aggrandising projects. Sales of State owned properties have become the order of the day. And, who dares talk!

"Now, the wind of change has come! The wind of change that enthroned President Muhammad Buhari, would also be the same wind that will see Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Congress for Delta State. Deltans, irrespective of their age, level of education and status in the society, have an utmost confidence in Ogboru. He is the new face of politicians the State desperately need. Deltans are hopeful that the doors of Ogboru becoming the Delta State Governor in 2019 are not shut against him. He will get his mandate like the Abraham Lincoln of the United States and Muhammad Buhari of our country, Nigeria. His dogged fighting spirit and all efforts would be reinvigorated to take over the reigns of government in the State, draped in the All Progressive Congress (APC)", it concluded..
