NEW YEAR: ENSURE VIGILANCE, OBEY COVID-19 PROTOCOLS.... Kaduna NSCDC Tells Residents

"It is our responsibility and we will continue in the fight against all forms of crime to ensure that security and peace are restored to pave the way for development to thrive", Kaduna NSCDC Commandant.

As a measure in checkmating the heinous acts perpetrated by criminals, Kaduna State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is calling on residents of the state to ensure vigilance and abide by COVID-19 protocols as they celebrate 2021 New Year.

The call is in response to some unfortunate incidences which occurred before and during the Christmas festivity and the need to forestall the reoccurrence of similar ugly happenings.

In a statement signed by ASC Orndiir Terzungwe, CPRO on behalf of the State Commandant, it noted that "it is regrettable that in spite of tight security measures put in place, some unrepentant miscreants still indulge in such menace".

"Notwithstanding however, it is our responsibility and we will continue in the fight against all forms of crime to ensure that security and peace are restored to pave the way for development to thrive", the Commandant stressed.

Nuraddeen Abdullahi further stressed  that, "in view of this determination, the command, in spite of deploying over 2500 officers and men across the state, is calling on residents to support us and other agencies with useful information by reporting acts and persons whose activities are capable of threatening the society".

"Community and religious leaders with members of different communities should unite and ensure enforcement of the ban on fireworks before, during and after the festive period".

"Recall that in some situations, criminals take advantage of the use of fireworks to unleash terror as it occurred at Ungwan Zawu, Chikun Local Government Area on the eve of this year's Christmas, during which six inhabitants including a pregnant woman were kidnapped without suspicion by other inhabitants".

The State Commandant of Corps, Nuraddeen Abdullahi, who had earlier directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure full mobilisation and deployment of personnel has reiterated the need to safeguard life and properties in the state.

Abdullahi has urged all those concerned with deployment to improve on the first arrangement with the view to ensure a hitch free New Year celebration.

The Commandant re-echoed the need for parents and guardians to monitor activities of children, reiterating that youth should shun violence and eschew crimes.
