Governance in every strata of any society, comes with challenges and expectations from the people of what is expected of those saddled with the task of providing quality and sustainable leadership that will impact positively on the lives of the people and the society itself.

In the Ughelli North Local Government Council Area of Delta state, South-south of Nigeria, one of the elected leaders and representatives of the community who has proven, beyond expectations that quality and transparent governance is still achievable is Olorogun Godwin Adode, Executive Chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Council; an upright and exemplary personality.

Since assumption into office as the Number One citizen of the locality, Olorogun Godwin Adode, popularly known as “Coach Tete”, has continued to create sustainable developmental projects and empowerment programmes with his impressive leadership legacies that will forever remain in the footprints of time.

Against the backdrop of negative comments from traducers and haters, “Coach Tete” remained unmoved from his set goals of delivering quality democratic dividends that have remained visible, to the people of Ughelli North. While his ‘haters’ pursue the promotion of unpleasant comments and publications in some two-pence social media outfits, the “Peoples Chairman” remained undaunted as his democratic dividends speak for him daily.  

From construction of school buildings to the health sector, Adode’s contribution to the growth and development of his people have remained commendable and exemplary. Rehabilitation of damaged portions on several rural roads within the locality, despite the paucity of funds, has attracted widespread jubilation from residents who describe the ‘Peoples Chairman’, as not just a transparent leader.

Many residents of the locality have described Hon. Godwin Adode as a good manager of resources; both human and capital, whose open door policy enables people, have direct and uninterrupted access to him. Chief Adode is said to have, positively, impacted on virtually every section of Ughelli North Local Government Council, that has resulted to the yearning for an extension of his tenure for a second term that would enable the people truly, gain from his leadership as the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government.

His genuineness of purpose, transparency and fear of God in both private and official life as a ‘Servant leader’ is indeed, deserving of a return to office.

Youth empowerment and the creation of skill acquisition centres to cater for the teeming number of youths have remained one of the key points of the Adode led administration. This also includes the upgrade of facilities in both primary and secondary schools as the desire to ensure that there is improvement in the quality of education, around the council area has seen another key area of focus, which is in line with the vision and mission statement of the Executive Governor of Delta state, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa.

On issue of safety to lives and properties of the citizenry, Olorogun Godwin Adode has remained resolute in ensuring that earlier cases of insecurity within his domain, received prompt attention and now, the people now go about their daily activities without fear of molestation from marauding herdsmen. This is not to say it is yet, uhuru as, no society can completely, eliminate crime and criminality but the ability to curb and bring such to a minimal level, is deserving of commendation.

Olorogun Godwin Adode, deserves a second term as Executive Chairman and as such, every right thinking citizen of Ughelli North Local Government Council Area must support his administration in delivering on his promises to provide quality life and a better society.
