WHO WANTS EFEMENA UMUKORO DEAD?

The constant and unchecked threats to the life and wellbeing of Comrade Efemena Umukoro, National President of the Youth wing of the apex body of Urhobos worldwide, has attracted the attention of concerned members of the Urhobo nation, globally.

According to a group, under the aegis of “Concerned Deltans”, there is an urgent need to checkmate the growing insecurity challenges in Delta state especially as it concerns threats to the lives of persons, particularly those in positions of leadership.

The group, in a statement signed by its national coordinator, Comrade Emokiniovo Akpokomuaye called on the state government to intensify efforts at arresting those behind the constant threats go the life of Comrade Efemena Umukoro, Youth Wing President of the Urhobo Progress Union; apex Urhobo body of all Urhobos.

Comrade Akpokomuaye expressed concerns of his group on “the reoccurring assassination attempts by yet to be identified persons on the life of the UPU Youth Wing president is not only worrisome but calls for concerted efforts by those in authority, especially security agencies, to thwart the plans of these evil persons in our society”.  

He appealed to the Governor of Delta state, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to continue in his relentless efforts at ridding the state of criminal elements through his positive, purposeful and developmental strides that will make the state greater.

He recalled that the recent purported assassination attempt on the life of Comrade Efemena Umukoro is coming fast on the heels of the last attempt, which is barely a month ago, making it two attempts in less than a month apart.

He wondered why anyone would attempt to take the life of a human being, which he or she cannot create even as his group pointed out that the sterling leadership qualities of Efemena Umukoro as Youth Wing President of the UPU, is worthy of commendation and support.

“The several attempts against the life of Comrade Umukoro, has resulted in the death of one in the home of the UPU Youth Wing President and this is unacceptable, condemnable and deserving of proper investigation”.

“This is one attempt too many that security operatives, especially the Nigeria Police must investigate and bring to book, all those involved in these despicable acts of criminality”.

“We condemn these acts of criminality that is capable of giving our beloved state a bad name, in the comity of states in Nigeria and as such, align with the administration of Governor Okowa to rid the state of criminal elements and also support Comrade Efemena Umukoro in his purposeful and commendable leadership strides as President, UPU Youth Wing”.

The “Concerned Deltans” group called on Comrade Efemena Umukoro to remain focused on his purposefulness leadership that has imparted on youths, through the various employment and empowerment opportunities he has provided for all.

The group enjoined youths in the state to remain committed in the quest at ensuring that the state remains safe for all and shun acts of criminality.
