The Chairman of the Code of conduct Bureau, CCB, Prof Mohammed Isah, has ordered immediate investigations of the Minister of the Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, and officials of the Bureau who collected Bribe from the Minister to stop probe of the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Effiong Okon Akwa.

Also, the Board of the CCB which had scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on Monday to deliberate on the allegations considered to be a major embarrassment to the Bureau was rescheduled for Wednesday when the NDDC boss is also expected to appear.

Anyone found guilty of the allegation is expected to be referred to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, a source told Pointblanknews.com

Updated information available to Pointblanknews.com indicated that when the of Intelligence, Investigation and Monitoring and others in CCB, wrote to the NDDC Boss to appear before the Bureau, some unnamed officials of the Bureau tipped off the Akwa.

Sources confirmed that Akwa reached out to the Asokoro office of the CCB from where officials of the Bureau in Asokoro office, took Assets Declaration forms and headed to his hotel room 909 at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The bribe money was said to have been negotiated and paid by Akpabio who is hellbent on shielding his lackey.

Pointblanknews.com had reported how desperate Akpabio had paid N100million in bribe to officials mandated to investigate the NDDC boss.

Soon after the bribe money was delivered, the CCB officials, armed with an Asset Declaration form, moved swiftly to the Hilton Hotel Abuja and were ushered into room 909 by Emma Inyang Eto, a Personal Assistant, PA, to Akwa, the NDDC boss.

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the CCB officials assisted Akwa to fill a backdated Asset Declaration form which they took back to the Bureau where they would then write a report clearing Akwa of any wrongdoing and exonerate him from any crime.

Akwa was Special Assistant on Finance to Mr Bassey Dan-Abia, who was Managing Director of the NDDC between 2013 and 2015. Mr Dan-Abia was a former Commissioner in Akpabio’s cabinet in Akwa Ibom State, while Akpabio was Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Then Governor Akpabio nominated Dan-Abia as MD of the NDDC and sent Effiong Akwa to work with him as his Special Assistant on Finance during this period.
