EXPLOSION ROCKS ONITSHA, Scores Wounded, Several Cars Destroyed

Many people have been reportedly injured following an explosion at a gas station located around Akwa road in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The explosion which occurred on Sunday evening, December 12, saw another filling station destroyed by fire while two other filling stations were saved by men of Anambra Fire Service who responded promptly to distress calls.

The loud sound of the explosion, which occured at around 7:30pm, according to eyewitness accounts, caused an earth shaking noise accompanied by fire, consuming the station, an adjoining fuel station and a mechanic workshop sharing boundaries with the filing stations. Over 15 vehicles were said to have been burnt.

The number of casualties is still unknown at the time of this filling this report.
