DELTA: TRIGGER HAPPY POLICEMAN GUNS DOWN 17YR OLD YOUTH IN OZORO
.... As group appeals to well meaning Nigerians especially indigenes of Ozoro Community to be civil in their approach at all times, especially when dealing with armed Police officers.
A trigger happy policeman has reportedly shot dead, a seventeen (17) year old boy, Emeka Odogwu in Ozoro Community, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, according to our reporter, occurred on Saturday night.
The report stated that the Policemen who stormed the area had found fireworks, popularly called "knockout" which are usually used during the yuletide and celebratory occasions in the victim's possession. The police, on several instances banned the use of any form of fireworks across the country.
It was also gathered that the policemen made efforts to arrest the deceased boy but he resisted and in his attempt to escape, one of the Policemen opened fire and killed him.
Meanwhile, a group, under the auspices of the Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement (ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace” has condemned in strong terms the dastard murder of the young boy by the Policeman.
ISRCA National Coordinator, Comrade (Amb.) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen in a statement on his Facebook timeline said; "I condemn in strong terms, the unprofessional conduct of the Police operative alleged to have perpetuated the act."
The group also appealed to well meaning Nigerians especially indigenes of Ozoro Community to be civil in their approach at all times, especially when dealing with armed Police officers.
The group urged the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State to carry out a thorough investigation on the matter and bring the erring officer to justice just as he condoled with the family of the deceased.
According to the National Coordinator of the group, "I sympathize with the family of the young boy that was allegedly shot by a Police officer at Ozoro last night, arising from knockouts that was found in his possession. It was alleged that the young man resisted arrest and while he was running, he was shot by one of the Police officer."
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe in a WhatsApp message he sent to Our Correspondent confirmed the report.
The Police image maker in the message he sent to our Correspondent, said, "The policeman has been identified and detained."
According to SP Edafe, "CP assures the family of justice".
