NITDA, NACCIMA Partner on MSMEs’ Digital Transformation

The National Information Technology Development Agency and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital economy and supporting the digital transformation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, and the Director-General of NACCIMA, Engr. Olusola Obadimu, on the sidelines of GITEX Nigeria in Lagos.

The agreement is expected to provide a framework for collaboration on the development of a digital ecosystem, promotion of technology adoption and innovation, capacity building for businesses and the digital transformation of MSMEs.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Obadimu described the partnership as a timely intervention for Nigeria’s organised private sector, stressing that digital transformation had become critical for businesses seeking to remain competitive.

“It is an excellent arrangement to have this type of protocol on digitisation and digital transformation, especially for the private sector,” he said.

“NACCIMA is the umbrella body of the organised private sector in Nigeria, and digital transformation is a necessity. There is no better partner to work with than NITDA, and we are happy to sign this MoU and move the partnership forward.”

Under the agreement, both organisations will also collaborate on the development and institutionalisation of the Digital Nigeria International Conference 2026 and subsequent editions.

The partnership is also expected to strengthen collaboration among government institutions, private sector organisations, technology companies, academia, investors and development partners to create a more enabling environment for innovation and economic growth.

Obadimu said the two organisations were prepared to commence implementation of the agreement immediately, adding that Nigerians would soon begin to see the impact of the collaboration.

“We are going to hit the ground running as soon as we return to our offices for the implementation of this agreement. Nigerians will begin to see things happen almost instantaneously,” he said.

The NACCIMA DG added that the collaboration would create opportunities for Nigeria’s growing youth population, whom he described as increasingly driving innovation and digital entrepreneurship.

“Digitalisation is the way to go. As you can see, we have a youthful population, and they are the ones driving this process. We should encourage them and give them all the necessary support to go beyond Nigeria and compete on the global stage,” he said.
