News of the death of Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of the Afenifere, the Yoruba Social group and a very committed figure and voice for the politically oppressed, has continued to send shock waves and reverberations across the political space of the country, especially among the Rights Community.
The death of this highly knowledgeable Nigerian has seen reactions pour out in torrents from leaders alike devoid of religious, tribal or political inclinations.

In the statement which was highly emotional, the Nigerian Voters Alliance Coordinator mourned the passage of Yinka Odumakin, whose defence of the oppressed in the society was exceptional.
He said; "Adieu Yinka, my soft -spoken, but highly intelligent and determined friend. You fought a good battle against oppression in the land. You were an unrepentant defender of the rights and dignity of the people, especially the Yoruba race within a "united" Nigerian "federation".
"The Nigerian Civil Rights Community and the Yoruba race have indeed lost a gem and a strong pillar of support. But your enviable legacy, indelible marks and noble ideas about true federalism, civil rights, human dignity, rule of law and democratic culture will continue to live in our hearts and will be passed on to generations.
"When so many others will be forgotten and despised after their deaths, history will always remember your name for good, because you have left your footprints on the sands of time.
"May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace!!
