This was the assertion of Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) in a keynote address powerfully delivered at the 2025 World Refrigeration Day in Paris France, while outlining Nigeria's strategic roadmap for deploying innovative refrigeration solutions to tackle food security, enhancing healthcare delivery, and energy sustainability nationwide.

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi ably represented Nigeria alongside Nigeria's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) promoter and Diaspora leader, Prince Ade Omole at the 2025 World Refrigeration Day Event, held at Les Salons Hoche, Paris, France, on June 18, 2025.
The event, which brought together global leaders in sustainable refrigeration and energy efficiency, provided a crucial platform for Nigeria to demonstrate its commitment to innovation in climate-smart technologies.
Representatives from different countries discussed the relevance of refrigeration for the well-being of their societies, in terms of access to safe and quality food, human health and animal welfare, and scaling up technology services such as AI, current state, success stories and challenges.

The session, expertly moderated by Dr Mariana Castaño, a globally renowned expert on sustainable energy transitions, featured high-level participation from government dignitaries and policymakers from France, Senegal, Kuwait, and India, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
In a similar development, Dr. Abdullahi revealed his participation in the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Bonn, Germany, where he disclosed that the event was convened under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The ECN Boss reiterated that the event brought together global leaders to review progress, shape policies, and advance sustainable climate action.

According to the Director General, "I joined the Nigerian delegation which included federal and state officials, we actively took part in technical sessions and coordination meetings, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the global climate agenda".
He pointed out that, "At the event, I restated the Energy Commission of Nigeria’s dedication to driving the national energy transition through research, innovation, and global collaboration".
"My participation underscores ECN’s role in supporting sustainable energy policies aligned with international climate goals", he said.
