TANTITA Urges NSCDC, TANTITA Personnel To Join In Safeguarding Nation's Assets

The General Manager (Security/Military Liaison), TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, Brig. Gen. Efe Dafioghor today said personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and TANTITA have shared responsibilities in safeguarding the nation's assets due to the increasing threats of oil facilities particularly in the Oil and Gas sector with a view to increasing the country's revenue base.

Brig. Gen. Dafioghor made the assertion at the ongoing three day capacity building training for Effective Security Coordination for Personnel of the agencies in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. 

He noted that the training which is being organized by TANTITA in collaboration with Top Private Security Services Nigeria Limited is to strengthen inter-agency cooperation amongst the two security outfits.

According to Brig. Gen. Dafioghor, the goal of TSSNL is to foster a stronger more unified approach to security coordination that enhances operational effectiveness, intelligence sharing and rapid response mechanisms. 

 

According to him, "NSCDC and TSSNL have a shared responsibility in safeguarding the nation's assets.

He pointed out that, "The platform offers an opportunity to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, harmonize operating procedure and build mutual trust among field coordinators".

He also advised participants to share experiences, learn from one another and develop lasting professional relationships that will benefit their collective mission. 

He urged them to use the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, sharpen their skills, return to their units, locations better prepared to meet their contemporary challenges to the protection of oil and gas assets.

The objective of the training is to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, enhance tactical capacity and align security coordination frame work for effective protection of national critical infrastructures. 

Former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, High Chief (Dr.) Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo's private security firm (Tantita Security) is the sponsor of the training. 

Executive Director (Technical), TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, Capt. Enisuoh Wariedi said the training is necessary, effective for the efficient performances of the Security personnel.

Wariedi advised the participants to take the training serious as it will take them far in their career and personal lives as well as strengthen the bond and relationships they have with TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited. 

A legal practitioner, David Ogbedu Esq in a lecture titled: "Oil Assets surveillance viz-a-viz application", said in the administration of criminal justice and engagements in the cause of the operations of personnel, the rule of law must be followed to ensure effective operation and surveillance of critical national oil assets. 

He also condemned the use brute force in extracting confessional statements from suspects. 

An expert, Julius Nasamu Gaiya who aligned himself with the legal practitioner, said; they do not have the right to fire the leg of anyone alleged to have committed an offence. "That's wrong. Unless he is pointing a gun at you."

Gaiya however, encouraged the use of technology for surveillance by the security personnel just as he said they (NSCDC and TSSNL Personnel) should collaborate amongst themselves in safeguarding oil facilities. He added that they should also collaborate with host communities to get information beyond their reach during intelligence gathering.
